The company Yandex Games decided to launch an initiative to take advantage of the Brazilian public’s interest in gaming. This is a free course that aims to train future game developers. Harisson K. Santos he is an executive of the company in Latin America and explained the action:
The potential for a successful career in game development in Latin America is so great that we took the opportunity to help provide more training for future developers, even those who have no prior experience in this area.
Along with Mexico, Brazil leads the Latin American market with the first and second highest revenues in the sector’s industry, according to information from Statista. In this regard, the continent as a whole is establishing itself as a gaming behemoth, with currently the third highest number of gamers in the world.
According to Newzoo, the region is the third largest in the world in terms of video game industry revenue, with only Asia Pacific and North America ahead of it. In fact, the expectation is that the region will be able to generate around US$ 6.2 billion in industry revenue in the coming years. Harisson took the opportunity to comment:
The region is emerging as an important creative hub for the video game industry, thanks to the innovation and imagination of its local entrepreneurs. However, until now, large countries like the Mexico, for example, did not boost their video game production at the same accelerated pace as their consumption. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for the continent to continue training professionals for the industry. And that’s what we hope our course can help with, both developing future talent and highlighting the need and importance of these professionals given the increased demand for these specialists.
Course participants will be able to have practical development experience from scratch and will be able to learn the entire process until they send it to the Yandex Gaming platform, which arrived in Brazil at the beginning of the year. In all, there are several video tutorials and additional materials. The complete course takes in all 10 to 12 hours to complete.
