Asian Youth Center Elects Anli Yang As Chair, Celebrates Community Support

The Asian Youth Center (AYC) in San Gabriel, California, has recently inaugurated its new board of directors and awarded scholarships, reinforcing its commitment to community service and youth empowerment. The Ceremony, Held At Grapevine Arbor, celebrated the incoming board members for 2025-2026 and highlighted the achievements of local students.

New Leadership At AYC

Anli Yang, Monterey Park City Deputy Mayor and a practicing attorney, has been appointed as the new chairman of the board, succeeding Bryan Chau. Other Key Appointments Include Kenny Chung as first vice chairman, Carol Lee as second vice chairman, Sabrina Li as secretary, and Steve Maekawa as finance minister. Andrew Yam Joins As A New Director Alongside Several Renewed Directors.

Scholarship Awards Recognize Academic Excellence

The Ayc awarded Scholarships To Six Deserving High School And College Students, supported by generous donations from philanthropists. The Scholarships, Named “Suk ching Leung Scholarship,” “Ngoot Fong wong Scholarship,” And “Suk Ching Leung Scholarship,” Provide $1,000 Each To The Recipients.

Recipients Included Thet Htar Eain From Basadina Community College, Kingston Moc From San Gabriel High School, Alex Z. Ping From Irvine College,Allison Sanchez From San Gabriel High School,jessi Tierre-Mee Cruz From Cal Poly Pomona University,And Elizabeth Vuong From Los Angeles.

“Hometown Flavor” Event Highlights Community and Cuisine

The event, themed “hometown Flavor,” featured celebrity chef Chris Yang from Alhambra City (Chef Yang’s Kitchen), who engaged in a conversation with food lover Sherwin Goo. They Shared Insights On Modern Interpretations Of Chinese And Traditional Home-Cooked Cuisine, enhancing the sense of community and cultural thankfulness.

All Proceeds From the Event Will Support Ayc’s multilingual Emergency Food And Anti-Hate Services. The organization continues to focus on providing crucial resources and support to the community, addressing immediate needs and promoting inclusivity.
