Yankees designated Miguel Andújar for assignment

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

The Yankees announced Thursday that they have designated the Dominican for assignment. Miguel Andujar. In turn, the club activated left-hander Zack Britton from the 60-day disabled list and banned left-hander Wandy Peralta for 15 days.

With this, Andújar’s time with the Yankees ends, which will be remembered as memorable and at the same time inconsistent. After finishing second in the voting for the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 2018, the Dominican has been battling injuries and inconsistencies, splitting time between Triple-A and the big team.

Andujar made headlines earlier in the season when he asked to be traded following being optioned to the minors in early June.

He hit .229/.250/.281 with one homer and eight RBIs in 27 games in the majors in 2022. Overall, he hit .273/.303/.449 with 35 homers and 122 RBIs for a total of 259 encounters with the Bombers.
