Gambia’s footballers have experienced frightening minutes on their planned path to the Africa Cup of Nations. The plane that left Banjul had to turn around and land shortly after takeoff.
According to a statement from the Gambia Football Association, there was a loss of pressure and oxygen on the Air Cote d’Ivoire plane, which is the official partner of the Africa Cup of Nations. “We could all have been dead,” Gambia’s Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet was quoted as saying by Nieuwsblad.be. When asked by 20 Minutes, he says that he had contact with Saidy Janko. «When we found out what happened, we were worried. We are very happy that everyone is doing well.” He goes on to say that Janko told him that training had taken place today and that the onward journey to the Ivory Coast was now on the agenda.
The Young Boys start the second half of the season on Saturday, January 20th. The Bernese will then meet GC.
