Yemen.. 3 Israeli ships were targeted with missiles and drones

Yemen – The Houthi group announced, on Thursday, that it had targeted 3 Israeli ships in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, with a number of missiles and drones, causing “accurate hits.”

This came according to a statement by the group’s military spokesman, Yahya Saree, seen by Anadolu.

Sarie said, “The naval forces, the unmanned air force, and the missile force (affiliated with the Houthis) carried out a joint operation, targeting the two Israeli ships MSC Digo and MSC Gaena in the Gulf of Aden with a number of ballistic missiles and drones, and the hit was accurate.”

He explained, “The (Houthi) missile force carried out two qualitative operations in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea targeting the (Israeli) ship MSC Vittoria, and the hit was direct.”

He stressed that the group’s forces “are following developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, and will not hesitate to escalate their military operations in victory for the oppression of the Palestinian people.”

The group’s spokesman stressed the continuation of “preventing Israeli navigation or those heading to the ports of occupied Palestine in the declared area of operations, until the siege is lifted and the aggression in the Gaza Strip stops.”

There was no comment from Israel regarding this statement until 7:00 (T.G).

On Friday evening, the Houthi group announced the start of a fourth phase of escalation in its “solidarity” attacks with Gaza, against the backdrop of “Israel’s serious preparations to carry out an aggressive military operation” against the city of Rafah in the southern Palestinian Strip.

“In solidarity with Gaza,” which has been facing a devastating Israeli war since October 7, 2023, the Houthis have targeted, with missiles and drones, Israeli cargo ships or those linked to them in the Red and Arab Bahrain.

With Washington and London intervening through a coalition that launched strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, and tensions took an escalating turn last January, the Houthi group announced that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets.

Recently, the group said it would expand its strikes to “include enemy-linked ships passing in the Indian Ocean via the Cape of Good Hope route.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza, leaving more than 113,000 people dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues the war despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and also despite the International Court of Justice demanding immediate measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
