YOGYAKARTA will host the inaugural series of the 2024 Superchallenge Supermoto Race national championship which will take place over two days on April 26-27 at the Mandala Krida Stadium parking lot circuit.

Superchallenge Supermoto 2024 representative Mario Putra said he was trying to meet the enthusiasm of many parties, especially racers and the supermoto community who want the consistency of a competitive, prestigious and entertaining supermoto championship.

“Because of that, in this year’s Superchallenge Supermoto Race there was a lot of enthusiasm and we made improvements to meet the quality aspects of the competition and the organization of the event,” said Mario in his statement received on Tuesday (23/4).

After Yogyakarta, the 2024 Supermoto Superchallenge will be held in Tasikmalaya City (17-18 May), Surabaya (14-15 June), Subang (19-20 July), and the closing series in Boyolali (30-31 August).

In this national championship series there will be seven classes competing. The seven classes are divided into main classes (national championships) and supporting classes. The main classes consist of the FFA 250 class, open 180 trail class, and junior 180 trail class. Meanwhile, the supporting classes consist of the FFA 450 class, FFA 450 master class, trail 180 rookie class, and trail 180 master class.

Mario explained that long before the confirmation and announcement of the 2024 Superchallenge Supermoto Race, enthusiasm from the supermoto community and activists was already very high and even a number of elite supermoto racers in Indonesia had confirmed their involvement in this race.

“The interest in participants is very high, especially from areas with a large base of supermoto activists and communities. Meanwhile for racers, at the top national level, a number of names who are certain to take part are Tommy Salim, Doni Tata Pradita, Farudila Adam, Yassin Somma, and Irfan Ardiansyah. Even Gerry Salim will also return to the track after successfully recovering from a racing accident in Japan,” explained Mario.

A number of aspects of technical readiness have also been well confirmed for free practice sessions, qualifying and racing. Genta Auto & Sport as the promoter has prepared a non-permanent circuit at the Mandala Krida Stadium with characteristics that are claimed to be very different from previous year’s series.

“The race in the inaugural series in Yogyakarta will definitely be exciting, fierce and difficult to predict because we have designed this non-permanent circuit to have surprises that are quite challenging and different from before.

The racers also don’t know the circuit by heart. “There is little chance of them predicting the track because they will only try it out in the Free Practice session,” said Director of Genta Auto & Sport, Mariachi Gunawan.

Overall champion in the 2023 FFA 250 class, Farudilla Adam, admitted that he couldn’t wait to immediately try out each circuit track which offers different characteristics and he was ready to defend his championship title.

“My preparation is definitely as maximum as possible by continuing to do engine research and also maintaining physical performance. For the strategy, we are trying to maximize the suspension settings because the circuit will be non-permanent, so I will really rely on the motorbike’s performance,” explained the rider with starting number 127.
