The Nuevo León Attorney General’s Office (FGJNL) revealed this Wednesday that, according to the latest inquiries, the main line of investigation into the death of Yolanda Martínez Cadena points to a suicidealthough he clarified that the analysis is still “not conclusive.”
At a press conference, deputy prosecutor Luis Enrique Orozco explained that no shell casings or any indication of violence were found exercised against the young woman, who was found lifeless in an uninhabited property in the municipality of Juárez last Sunday, May 8.
“The line of investigation aimed at suicide has been solidified, consolidated, in a greater way. As the investigation has progressed, the analysis of expert evidence has weakened the theory of a femicide.
“The analysis of Yolanda’s corpse does not show any indication of injuries or torture, the autopsy report is in process,” he said.
Among the signs found on the property, there is a glass with messages such as “I love you black”, “I’m leaving” and “Mark me handsome”, of which the Prosecutor’s Office analyzes with graphological evidence if they correspond to Yolanda’s handwriting.
Also two bottles of water that were next to the body, and an elongated container with the legend “danger” that could contain aluminum phosphide.
Besides a handbag was found, the inside of which contained clothing, a cell phone, an official ID, a Banorte debit card and a white can with a “Control 24E” label whose contents have not been determined.
“It is important to tell you: no belongings were stolen. In the family’s opinion, the located belongings were found intact.
“These indications suggest suicide as the most solid line of investigation. There are some interviews in the investigation folder that speak of a probably depressive state, of probably suicidal ideas, of communications that Yolanda made to people close to her in which she gave information about the intention to turn your life around“.
For her part, the prosecutor specializing in femicide, Griselda Nuñez, added that they will investigate whether or not Yolanda was depressed and what caused it.
