“You don’t put two burning houses together”

The candidate for the president of PASOK, Pavlos Geroulanos, spoke about the internal party procedures, stressing that the next president of the faction must have a plan, experience and ensure the unity of the party.

Referring to the debate between the candidates, Mr Geroulanos told SKAI: “There will be some questions between the candidates and until then, it will not be an open debate and I must tell you that, despite the fact that I am in favor of open debates, when 6 people participate, there is a risk of a “coffee shop” discussion.

«To the question whether I am suitable for prime ministership, I answer that the process from the intra-party ballot box to the national one shows what we can do. The big talks in Parliament this year were about “red” loans, public property, taxation of small and medium-sized businesses, accuracy. All these were battles I fought in the Parliament”, he then emphasized, adding:

«You saw how quickly our supremacy evaporated, we reached 18% and fell very quickly to 12%, also see what is happening to SYRIZA. I don’t want to see PASOK go through such an adventure again.”

“To speak to this audience, it’s not about party partnerships, it’s about your plan, what you offer as a vision for the country. At the moment no party tells us on what framework we will cooperate. Neither ND nor SYRIZA”, while on the occasion of a possible PASOK-SYRIZA alliance, Mr. Geroulanos commented “you don’t put two houses on fire together”.

Finally, he made it clear that he does not particularly believe in opinion polls, since they are based more on “popularity”, while he expressed his certainty that he will definitely be in the second round.
