Blizzard released a new short animation ‘Kiriko’ through its official online channel on the 8th.
Kiriko, the Japanese hero who succeeded Genji and Hanzo, was leaked with an animation short just before the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2022 held in Japan last September. At the time, Blizzard tried to delete the videos. Unlike the Junker Queen, where the background story and animation short were released together, the cinematic was not released separately even though Kiriko was officially released through the TGS stage. In terms of timing alone, the cinematic video was released about three weeks after the release of the hero.
This short film tried to capture various aspects of Kiriko returning to her mother’s house and fighting with the Hashimoto clan. Kiriko is a friendly neighbor when playing with her uncle next door and her little child, and an average young man who doesn’t want to cause worries when with her mother.
However, when the minions of the Hashimoto family come to collect the light of the uncle next door and threaten them, they subdue them with the appearance of a hero. Kiriko, who appeared like a ghost through the flickering lights, threatened them with an aggressive tone and voice, unlike her previous appearance.
In addition, it did not stop at throwing kunai from a distance like in the game, but also showed off a splendid fighting action. In the video, he used a momentary movement and restored a neighbor who was hit by a gun with a healing talisman.
In particular, Kiriko, angry at the end of the video, spreads a blue-colored torii as if using the ultimate fox path in a narrow building passage and chases them out with an overbearing appearance. Like the fox road in the game that gives various reinforcement effects, the uncle and the kid next door also aggressively drove out the Hashimoto and the crew. In addition, Kiriko once again revealed her anger against the Hashimoto family, which had been revealed in the setting, and the story development that would be made through this was also expected.
On the other hand, in this video, Japanese and English were mixed with old film directing, showing some scenes that paid homage to Japanese classic films.
