Youth pass. The application is ready, according to Bensaid

The Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid announced on Tuesday that the youth pass, an application that gives young people privileged access to a rich range of advantages and services, is ready and is currently being tested.

Speaking at a meeting of the Committee on Education, Culture and Communication at the House of Representatives, he specified that this application provides in its first version for cultural and sports services as well as services in the fields banking and transport, indicating that it will be operational in a first phase in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and this, in partnership with the company “Rabat animation’ et développement” and the Tramway company of Rabat-Salé (STRS ).

Then, in a second phase, the youth pass will give the right to rail transport advantages throughout the region, in partnership with the ONCF (Office National des Chemins de Fer), he said, before specifying that this offer will also benefit young rural people in a progressive manner to avoid certain technical difficulties.

He noted that this youth pass will allow people aged 16 to 30 to benefit from many advantages as well as reductions, explaining that it will be a question of making available balances of 500 to 1,000 dirhams per year to be able to visit historical monuments and museums or access nearby land, hostels and means of transport throughout the Kingdom.

Bensaid assured that his department seeks to ensure that this youth pass can encompass as wide a range of services as possible through the involvement of all the other departments, stressing that this instrument will allow young people to benefit from many services in the future. services through a partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, in addition to the possibility of accessing housing at an advantageous price, thanks to a partnership with the supervisory ministry.

On a completely different note, the Minister affirmed that the government is considering a review of the terms and conditions for granting grants to artistic works and cultural associations, welcoming the artistic development in the country over the past two decades, since the place of support commissions.

But the fact remains that problems remain, among others, the absence of a strategy in the cultural field during the past period, he lamented, announcing that the government is working on the development of a cultural and artistic strategy involving all stakeholders (artists, unions and associations) and focuses in particular on the financial support of artists and creators as well as the definition of the role of the region as a main actor in the promotion and l investment in the cultural field.
