YouTube Down: Outage Map, Status & Latest Updates (February 2026)

by

YouTube and YouTube TV experienced a widespread outage Tuesday evening, impacting users across the United States and, reportedly, in Australia. The issues began surfacing around 1:42 PM PST, with users reporting a complete inability to load the YouTube homepage, often met with a blank screen, while others experienced difficulties logging in or accessing content.

Initially, the platform wasn’t registering as down on monitoring website Downdetector, but by 1:48 PM PST, over 30,000 users had reported problems with YouTube, with more than 8,000 reporting issues with YouTube TV and nearly 2,500 with Google itself. The number of reported issues with YouTube subsequently dropped to around 22,000 by 2:05 PM PST and further decreased to approximately 16,000 by 2:42 PM PST.

The outage appeared to disproportionately affect users on the West Coast, with San Francisco and Los Angeles reporting the highest number of issues, according to Downdetector’s map of reported problems. On the East Coast, Recent York City saw the most reported disruptions. However, reports indicated issues were occurring in cities across the country.

As of 2:21 PM PST, YouTube acknowledged the outage via its official account, confirming that users were not imagining the problems. Shortly after, at 2:24 PM PST, the company indicated that the homepage appeared to be recovering, though issues persisted with logins for both YouTube and YouTube TV. Reports from users in Seattle, Washington, Santa Cruz, California, and Reading, Pennsylvania indicated the platform was functioning normally as of 6:15 PM PST.

Despite the widespread disruption, YouTube’s official X (formerly Twitter) account remained silent on the matter for several hours, with the last post, made four hours prior to the outage reports, focusing on cooking creators. As of 2:59 PM PST, a Google support account posted an update stating the homepage appeared to be back up, but acknowledged ongoing login issues for both YouTube and YouTube TV.

YouTube TV, the platform’s subscription service, was also affected. As of February 18, 2026, YouTube TV is offered at a price of $59.99 per month, with a 10-day free trial available to new subscribers.
