In a recent audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection, science YouTuber Orbit, who was found to have engaged in profit-making activities in violation of the ban on concurrent positions, resigned from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.

On the 26th, an official from the Creative Foundation said, “The personnel committee meeting for Orbit was held last week and a two-month suspension was confirmed,” and announced that Orbit had resigned after the level of disciplinary action was decided.

The day before, Orbit also posted on the YouTube channel ‘Unsuccessful Science’, “I would like to express my deepest apologies for disappointing you by violating the rules of concurrent employment at work,” and that the resignation letter submitted after being suspended according to the results of the personnel committee was accepted and received from the Creative Foundation. They informed me that I had been dismissed.

Previously, the Board of Audit and Inspection notified the foundation that Orbit would be suspended, saying that it was revealed that he made profits by appearing in videos and received more money than the stipulated amount from external activities while working as an employee of the foundation, an organization under the Ministry of Science and ICT.

Orbit announced his intention to resign to the foundation in August of last year, but the letter of resignation was not accepted after the audit began. This time, the final disciplinary action was confirmed with the notification of the personnel committee, allowing him to begin the resignation process.

The foundation explained that it is possible to resign during the period of suspension unless dismissed or dismissed.
