Ys X: Nordics will set sail next year

And Nihon Falcom had already announced that the next Ys would come out on Switch, we did not yet know the name and content of the game in question. It is therefore with joy that fans of the license will welcome the news of the release on the hybrid console of the next canonical episode named Ys X: Nordics. This new opus should be released next year in Japan to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the license and will bring many improvements to the historical gameplay, with an extended control of several characters during the fights thanks to a system called “Cross Action“. Here is how the publisher presents the scenario of the game to us:

The setting of this new game is the Bay of Obelia, a northern sea made up of countless islands, large and small. After completing his adventures in the ancient kingdom of Ys, the young adventurer Adol Christin encounters in this new land a maritime people known as “Normans”. Who are they ? And who are the “Griegers”, immortal undead who attack humans…?

As this marine universe suggests, Ys X: Nordics will allow you to control a boat, a first in the series. You will therefore have to explore vast oceans with only a maritime map as your guide and will occasionally encounter enemy ships that you can face. A little taste of Wind Waker (come on, a little pleasure for the earssince we are talking about it) which is not displeasing to us… In addition to the new system of “Cross Action“, you will also be able to engage in faster fights thanks to the “Solo Mode“, which will automate your partner’s attacks and support. Finally, “the special ability “Mana Action” greatly expands the degree of freedom on the grounds and in the dungeons“, without further details from the studio. All that remains is to know when this new opus will be available with us, while Monster Night had taken 17 months to leave the Japanese archipelago.
