Yuki Tsunoda believes his second season in F1 has prepared him physically and mentally, and he is “more in control and relaxed” heading into the race weekend compared to his 2021 rookie campaign. He said he feels

Following the announcement that he will remain with AlphaTauri F1 in 2023, Yuki Tsunoda spoke on the team’s podcast Tauri Talk about where he feels he has improved the most since his first season with the team.

“Well, if you show your belly, you can tell the difference!” joked Yuki Tsunoda.

“The biggest difference is physical, and I think it’s only a little bit in terms of driving. I have more control and I feel more relaxed.”

“Last year we went through more situations, so we know how to handle most situations, and those areas definitely have an advantage over last year heading into the race week. I think it’s the wrong department.”

Yuki Tsunoda, on the other hand, was often accused of neglecting his gym training.

“We have done a lot more preparation[for 2022]than last year and we definitely feel the benefits and performance improvements. I know that, so I’m just going to keep going.”

On the other hand, when asked if the uncertainty about his future had affected him in the last few weeks, Yuki Tsunoda said, “In racing, as soon as you put on the helmet and get into the monocoque or chassis, And I forget about things like that, I would say that’s my strength, but outside of the race it was a bit of a hindrance, especially in the last three or four rounds.”

“But yeah, and I have more confidence than last year, so I think I was more focused on my performance. I was more focused on helping the team. You will definitely feel better afterward.”
