Jeddah: Yusuf bin Abdullah Albunyan, who has been appointed as the new education minister of Saudi Arabia, has been included in the list of the most powerful company CEOs in the Middle East in 2021. He was the Vice Chairman and CEO of Saudi Basic Industries Company (SABIC).

He graduated from Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1987 and a master’s degree in business management in 1996.

Albuniyan later held various positions at SABIC and its various subsidiaries. Sabik held the position of General Manager of Textile Intermediates at Riyadh Head Office. Then he became the General Manager of ‘SABIC America’ operating in Houston, USA for two consecutive years.

He also served as the General Manager of SABIC Asia Pacific, Chief Human Resource Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance at SABIC for three years. Since 2015, Sabic has been working as the CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
