Zacatecas. David Monreal accuses the media of being “promoters of criminal organizations”

Zacatecas.- By reproaching the journalistic coverage that is given around the violence in Zacatecasthe Governor David Monreal Avila accused the media of becoming “promoters of criminal organizations” by disseminating the scenes of terror committed by criminal groups in the entity.

By initiating a conference to publicize the progress of the security strategy of Plan Zacatecas IIfrom the outset, reiterated that this issue is part of “the cursed inheritance” and that it is not exclusive to the entity, he immediately rebuked: “because then there are many false redeemers, there is a lot of prominence around the issue of insecurity that has made a lot of damage.”

He added: “I dare to say that there are even some media outlets that became promoters of criminal organizations (…) today they are the ones who spread, promote the terror scenes of the crime strategy.”

At the conference, a journalist asked the governor to specify which media outlets have this alleged association with organized crime, noting that professional media outlets have not been seen to spread drug banners or criminal messages, and also reminded the president that on Zacatecas grievances against reporters have been registered.

Although in his response, Monreal Ávila was not specific, he did show that the national media are part of those promoters of crime, but without specifying names, he only limited himself to saying: “I am not referring to those from here (Zacatecas), that is sometimes published in national or other media, which ask them to publish this or that action or thing (…) I am referring to the dissemination or promotion that is unknown to no one, because then, as they say, the note sell”.

The results announced by the governor said that they refer to the last four months, noting that as of November 25 of last year the Security Plan was put into operation, because his government made the decision to avail himself of the strategy In addition to informing that today 228 new elements of the National Guard arrived for the surveillance of the highway network, specifically in the sections of greatest risk with the limits of Durango, Coahuila and San Luis Potosí.

In that event, the prosecutor Francisco Murillo Ruiseco He highlighted that the index of intentional homicides in the entity has decreased by 25%, according to a comparison of January-March 2021-2022.

Regarding the statistics of intentional homicides in the first three months of this year, Murillo reported that 139 occurred in January, 86 in February and 93 in March.
