Zagłębie Sosnowiec players are still waiting for a breakthrough in the CLJ U17 competition. On Saturday afternoon, Łukasz Nadolny’s players lost at home to GES Poznań 3:5, and Dawid Gabor, Kacper Grzesikowski and Wojciech Górkiewicz were among the hosts’ scorers.
After three defeats in a row in matches in which Zagłębie was definitely not at a disadvantage, and was even considered a certain favorite, our situation in the CLJ U17 table has clearly deteriorated. worsening. Of course, it was still far from alarming, but the five-point advantage over the “red zone” five rounds before the end of the season was difficult to consider as completely reliable security buffer.Â
However, Łukasz Nadolny’s players still had their fate in their hands. A chance to break through and achieve the first victory since March 17 was supposed to be a match against GES Poznań, which is still trying to fight to maintain its league existence. The team from the Greater Poland Voivodeship was in the penultimate place in the table before the 26th series of games, but had played one less league match.
The match at Kresowa could therefore be safely considered a fight for the popular “6 points”, and the Zagłębie fans probably secretly hoped that the “red-green-white” will refer to their disposition until the last direct duel with GES in October 2023. Then, the Sosnowiec team won the away game 8:2, and Wojciech Górkiewicz achieved an unprecedented feat by scoring six goals in 43 minutes a mesh in the net.Â

However, the last parts of the match belonged to coach Jerzy Cyrak’s players, who defeated Oliwier Walczak in the 86th and 89th minute, respectively. This turn of events ultimately caused Zagłębie to suffer their fourth defeat in a row in the CLJ U17 competition, and the advantage over the relegation zone decreased to four points. The Sosnowiec team will enter the 27th series of games as the tenth team in the table.

There are four rounds ahead of us until the end of the season, in which we have to score as many points as possible and we will do everything to make it happen – coach Łukasz Nadolny told us “hotly” after Saturday’s competition.
After a series of matches against teams from the lower parts of the table, Zagłębie now faces a clash of a slightly different caliber. This Thursday, May 2, the team will go to Wrocław to face the current CLJ U17 runner-up – Śląsk. This match starts at 2:00 p.m
