Although this year has allowed us to enjoy a wide variety of concerts in Saltillo, many people questioned not only this publishing house about the 2024 edition of ZAPAL, but also the official social networks. Given the lack of response and the absence of indications about the arrival of the new line-up, fears were confirmed: the festival no longer exists.

The fact of sharing videos of the latest edition of the festival in the stories of his official Instagram profile he only aggravated the “musical wound.”

In the last edition, the line-up included performances by Cartel de Santa, Lalo Mora, Kevin Karl, Camilo Séptimo, Bruses and Little Jesus.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ZAPAL?

The last photo or post from the festival on Instagram dates back to December 14 of last year, and at that time questions from some fans flooded the post.

Poncho Domene, one of the organizers and creators of the music festival, told dozens of journalists during the presentation of the 2022 edition: ‘Zapal is a festival that has been growing year after year. We were in our fifth year, and if it weren’t for the pandemic, we would be in our seventh year. He was born with the idea of doing different things; We don’t consider it a festival, we see it more as a ritual, a celebration. We always say: ‘come and celebrate what we are’.”

The return to activity began precisely on their Instagram account, where they shared stories of memories, initially shared by some attendees of the show.

THE HISTORY

This musical history for Saltillo began to take shape in 2016. Despite being neighbors of Monterrey, where people usually go to see groups or artists, ZAPAL was created. The name comes from the Sierra de Zapalinamé.

Artists such as Los Claxons, Plastilina Mosh and El Gran Silencio started the festival in 2016. The following year, artists such as Enjambre, Molotov, Panteón Rococó, Jumbo and Rebels Cats joined.

Consolidated as one of the most interesting festivals with groups in Spanish, the 2018 line-up brought bands such as El Tri, La Maldita Vecindad, Porter, Caloncho, DLD and others to Saltillo.

The 2019 edition was highlighted by the performances of Café Tacvba, Moderatto, La Leyenda, José Madero and Aleman, making it one of the most memorable. While the final festival of 2022 offered artists such as Lalo Mora, Cartel de Santa, Kevin Kaarl, Camino Séptimo and Bruses on various stages.

WILL ZAPAL COME BACK?

Beyond the stories or photos shared on the official profiles, it is not yet known if the organizers will once again provide this musical space to Saltillo.

For now, the Cactus Festival has captured the attention of music lovers in its first edition, with stars such as Belinda, José Madero, Moderatto, Ximena Sariñana, DLD, Moenia, Wendy Guevara and an exciting closing performance by Molotov.
