Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Releases November 5

The complete remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time arrives on November 5, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the classic adventure back with updated visuals, orchestral music, and voice acting. IGN Benelux reported that the title requires 24.5 GB of storage space on the console. Connoisseurs will always rank this original title high in their lists, viewing it as the gaming equivalent of the film classic Citizen Kane and Marvin Gaye’s soul album What’s going on.

Global Release Times and Midnight Launches

Players in the Netherlands can start playing at midnight on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Nintendo is also hosting special midnight launch events at its official retail locations in San Francisco and New York. IGN Benelux noted that North American players face different regional rollout times, allowing users on the West Coast to begin playing on the evening of Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Some players might bypass local release schedules by changing their Nintendo account region to New Zealand, where the game debuts earlier due to time zones, provided they have a valid local payment method. Because New Zealand is twelve hours ahead of the Netherlands, the game is expected to appear there at 12:00 PM on November 4, Dutch time.

Dialogue Review Between Two Generations

De Standaard structured its coverage around a dialogue review featuring two staff editors with different histories with the franchise. Marijn Lems, who first played a Zelda title in 1992, experienced the remake as a journey back to the 1998 original. Jasper Croonen, whose introduction to the series was Breath of the Wild in 2017, evaluated the title from a modern perspective. Both critics noted that the game retains its core mechanics, though it lacks the absolute revolutionary impact of its original release.

Nintendo Modernizes Classic with Visual and Gameplay Updates

Nintendo developed the project to match modern standards while preserving the atmosphere of the Nintendo 64 classic. Gameliner noted that the first teaser for the Ocarina of Time Remake was shared on June 9, 2026. IGN Benelux reported that the title includes 29 specific adjustments, featuring modified puzzles, updated miniboss encounters, and expanded dialogue scenes. Players can also utilize new mechanics such as gyro-aiming. Nintendo wrapped the existing game in a dazzling new look with a fairy-tale visual style reminiscent of the work of painter Anton Pieck or the fantasy film The dark crystal, while main character Link resembles a brought-to-life porcelain doll, viewed through the wonder of an 11-year-old child.
