Zelensky reiterates fierce fighting and difficult situation in Donetsk direction

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country is under “pressure in different directions of the front.” He once more reported on the fierce battles in the Donetsk direction.

“We see this increased pressure in different directions of the front, as well as pressure in the information field. It is very difficult in the Donetsk region – fierce fighting,” Mr. Zelensky said in an address published on his website.

The Ukrainian president has repeatedly spoken regarding the difficult situation in the Donetsk area. The battles for Bakhmut (Artemovsk) have been going on since the summer of 2022. According to media reports, the United States advises Ukraine to focus on the counter-offensive in the south, and not on the battles for Bakhmut. However, according to Mr. Zelensky, Kyiv does not intend to surrender the city.
