Zelensky will visit the UK on February 8

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in the UK today, February 8, reports BBC referring to Downing Street. This will be his first visit to the UK since 24 February.

Mr. Zelensky will meet with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and deliver a speech in Parliament. Sky News writes that the Ukrainian president will ask for an “immediate increase” in the supply of military equipment.

Mr. Sunak will propose to Mr. Zelensky to strengthen the training of Ukrainian military personnel, including training them to fly fighter jets so that they can fly on NATO-standard aircraft. He will also propose launching an immediate Marine training program.

The Downing Street report said the prime minister will discuss with the Ukrainian president the supply of long-range weapons to Kyiv. It is designed to “prevent Russia from attacking Ukraine’s civilian and critical national infrastructure.”

In addition, the UK intends to announce new sanctions against Russia today. They will be aimed at people from the entourage of Russian President Vladimir Putin and companies that profit from hostilities in Ukraine.
