Christian Jennes scored twice in a 9-1 win in Klagenfurt. Only 13 seconds were missing from Max Zimmermann’s second shutout. Juniors won in overtime.
Zell am See continues to go from win to win in the Alps Hockey League. On Saturday, the Eisbären beat the KAC Future Team 9-1 away. A week earlier they had won in Val Gardena with the same result. Since the Wipptal Broncos suffered their first defeat at the same time, Zell am See also took over the lead in the table.
Three power play goals in a row
With their fourth win in their fourth away game in a row, the Eisbären impressively demonstrated that they don’t just draw their strength from the frenetic home crowd – even though many of their own fans had made the trip to Klagenfurt and were rewarded with fireworks of goals. Daniel Ban, Max Egger (with his first goal of the season) and Tyler Cuma ensured the first 3-0 half-time lead. In the second third, Clemens Paulweber and Christian Jennes also joined the shooting list. Capitals cooperation player Leon Widhalm opened the final round of goals. Adis Alagic, Jennes once more and Tomi Wilenius followed up with three power play goals in a row. With 13 seconds left, the KAC scored a consolation goal that prevented Max Zimmermann’s second shutout of the season.
“Calm and controlled”
“Of course we knew in advance that they had a very young team. They are very strong runners, have a strong forecheck, but are of course not as experienced as us,” explained double goalscorer Jennes following the game. “We decided to play calmly, play with control and leave the game in our hands. As the score shows, we managed to do this well for over 60 minutes.”
Juniors won following coming from behind
The Red Bull Juniors celebrated a 2-1 home win following extra time over the Steel Wings Linz. After an early 0-1 deficit, Daniel Assavolyuk managed to equalize in the final third. In overtime, Jesse Helander made the decision in favor of the young bulls.
