Zoltán Balog has resigned from his position on the board of trustees of the Foundation for Research in Central and Eastern European History and Society (KKETTK) – writes Mfor.hu based on information provided by the foundation.

The board of trustees of the foundation managed by Mária Schmidt is chaired by András Lánczi, the former head of the Századvég Foundation. But among the members are Mária Schmidt and János Martonyi, the former foreign minister of Fidesz.

Zoltán Balog resigned from his position in the board of trustees on February 21.

Zoltán Balog stepped down as synod president on February 16 after the grace scandal broke out, but he remained in one of the important positions of the church as the bishop of the Dunamelléki Egyházkerulet. We wrote more about this in this article.

In addition, Balog held or holds important positions in several foundations. He resigned from the position of honorary president of the Little Virtuosos Foundation on February 17, but he remains the chairman of the board of trustees of the Belváros-Lipótváros Egyházi Épületekért Public Foundation. Balog is also a board member of the Erzsébet Foundation for Children in the Carpathian Basin.

For example, the House of Terror Museum, the Habsburg Historical Institute and the Imre Kertész Institute are also institutions of the KKETTK. From 2022, it was transformed into a foundation with asset management status. In 2022, the foundation received HUF 2.2 billion in public funds from the state to renovate two villas in Buda. One of the villas is from the XII. district, on Határőr út. It has been the headquarters of KKETTK since its foundation in 1999. The foundation leased the building from its founder, the state, until 2020, but in that year the state bought another, also XII. together with the district property, he gifted it to KKETTK.

Former Fidesz EP representative József Szájer was also a member of the board of trustees of this foundation, who resigned from his position after the 2020 gutter scandal.
