Son Heung-min, the ace of Korean football, has been selected as the ‘2022 Player of the Year’ by the Korea Football Association for the fourth consecutive year.
Son Heung-min scored a total of 182 points in a vote of 19 members of the Korea Football Association’s Technical Development Committee and the National Team Strengthening Committee, and 47 soccer team leaders of the media outlets.
Son Heung-min became the first Asian player to become the top scorer in the English Premier League last season, and led the team to the round of 16 as captain at the Qatar World Cup.
Coach Paulo Bento, who led the men’s national team to the World Cup round of 16, received the Leader of the Year award.
In addition, in the women’s division, the Player of the Year award went to Ji So-yeon, and the Leader of the Year award went to Hyundai Steel coach Kim Eun-sook.
