As if celebrating the New Year in 2023, a new comet with a cycle of 50,000 years has appeared.

In August, it is also a ‘supermoon’ and the second full moon in a month, ‘blue moon’.

Reporter Kim Jin-doo will inform you of the space show worth watching in the new year.

The night sky over Ireland three years ago.

Bright streaks of light streak across the sky.

The true identity of the light that created a beautiful scene like a picture was the comet ‘Neowise’.

It was a comet that only appears to Earth once in 6,800 years.

But this year, we can meet a new comet that is even rarer than this.

Comet C/2022 E3 with a period of 50,000 years.

First discovered in the United States on March 2 last year, the comet is getting brighter and brighter.

Currently, it can only be found with a telescope, but from late January it will be visible to the naked eye in the countryside.

A meeting of Venus, Jupiter and the Moon is scheduled for March.

The near conjunction of Jupiter and Venus on the evening of March 2 can be seen across the country.

On the evening of the 24th, Venus is visible just above the crescent Moon.

In particular, in Jeju Island, you can observe the occult phenomenon where Venus hides behind the moon.

On August 30th, the biggest full moon of the year, the ‘Supermoon’ rises.

This ‘Super Moon’ is also a ‘Blue Moon’, the second full moon in a month, and it is the first time in 5 years since 2018 that a ‘Super Blue Moon’ has occurred.

This year, the three major meteor showers will appear in January, August and December.

Among these, the Perseid meteor shower in August and the Gemini meteor shower in December overlap with the moonless twilight period, making it the best condition for viewing shooting stars.
