[기상센터]Last year’s temperature, the second highest in observation history… Caused by ‘spring high temperature and short rainy season’

Last year, the average annual temperature across the country was the second highest on record.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the average annual temperature nationwide last year was 13.3℃, 0.8℃ higher than the average year, which is the second highest record since the national observation in 1973.

In particular, the metropolitan area and most of the southern regions such as Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi recorded the highest temperatures ever recorded.

The Korea Meteorological Administration analyzed that the high temperature phenomenon in spring, the short rainy season in summer, heat waves and tropical nights in July, etc., had an effect on raising the average annual temperature.
