[사회]”It’s already the third time in this month”… ‘Camping holy place’ where vehicles are isolated on the tidal flat

[앵커]

The island area in Ongjin-gun, Incheon is called a ‘camping holy land’ and is popular with campers and ‘chabaks’ who stay in cars.

Recently, there have been a series of accidents in which cars have fallen into the tidal flats and are isolated.

Similar accidents have already happened 3 times this month alone, and for some reason, reporter Yoon Seong-hoon visited the site.

A car is lying in the middle of the mudflat.

Firefighters and marine police officers tried to bring down the car, but to no avail.

After mobilizing a tow truck, the car was barely rescued.

It is presumed that the vehicle parked on the gravel road was washed away by the tide and fell into the tidal flat.

The place where the car was isolated is the tidal flat between Seonjaedo and Jeokdo in Ongjin-gun, Incheon.

Similar accidents are repeating on the gravel road that connects the two islands with a width of 4m and a length of about 500m.

The gravel road I’m standing on only shows up twice a day when the water goes down.

The distinction between gravel roads and tidal flats is not clear, resulting in accidents where drivers fall into the tidal flats.

Driving along a narrow road without even a boundary mark on a tidal flat that is repeatedly submerged and exposed every day, the wheels will fall into the muddy field and become unable to move.

In fact, on the 6th and 13th, an accident occurred in which an electric vehicle and an SUV fell into the tidal flat, which became a hot topic in the online community.

Residents agree that a bridge or road must be built between Seonjaedo and Geodo to prevent accidents.

[김은래 / 인천시 옹진군 : 차가 잘 다닐 수 있게 콘크리트 쳐서 턱을 만들어서 턱만 생기면 내려가지 않을 거 아니냐 그러면 이런 현상도 없고.]

However, Ongjin-gun said it would be difficult to install roads and bridges in a short period of time due to budget reasons, and said that only signs containing cautions could be installed.

Recently, more and more people are visiting the island for camping and car parking, but there are no safety measures to prevent damage to drivers, so special attention is required.
