In March of last year, it was announced that Park Soo-hong’s older brother had embezzled Park Soo-hong’s appearance fees and contract money for 30 years, shocking the public. In response, the older brother denied the allegations of embezzlement, arguing that the conflict with Park Soo-hong was not because of his property but because of his girlfriend. A complaint was filed with the Western District Attorney’s Office. In June, the company also filed a claim for damages worth 11.6 billion won.
On this day’s broadcast, Park Soo-hong said, “This position seems to be the most difficult position in broadcasting for over 30 years.”
He said, “It seemed like a sin to doubt my brother,” he said. “Then I have to die, how can I make sacrifices for myself and ask (doubt) the people who live and care for me and ask me to show them my bankbook?”
He continued, “Someone in the world has to believe and live. I really believed. But when I opened the lid, I only thought that I had to die. At the moment when many parts of my life were denied by the person I trusted, I couldn’t be the subject.” He said, “Hell for me. That was it,” he said.
Park Soo-hong also revealed that during the lawsuit, he found out that he had purchased several insurances under his own name with high death guarantees. “I was the insured, and I was single at the time, so why would I have set the amount of money I would receive when I died?”
Park Hoo-hong explained, about the maximum insurance policy that insurance agents can receive in case of death, “If you use the basic subscription amount, it is 970 million won. In the case of an accident, it was 1.07 billion.”
The contractor was a corporate company owned by his older brother, and he was also insured with no stake in Park Soo-hong’s insurance. Park Soo-hong said, “It was really miserable to be in a situation where my life was guaranteed, but I couldn’t do anything under the insurance law.”
Park Soo-hong’s acquaintances also appeared on the show to testify and support.
