On the 26th, violent clashes were reported in the Vasylkhiv region 29 km south of the Ukrainian capital Kiev, CNN reported, citing Ukrainian forces.

The Ukrainian military said the Russian army was advancing ground forces, saying that “vigorous fighting is currently ongoing in Basilkiv, Kiev.”

The Russian military has already raised the level of pressure surrounding Kiev in the north and east.

CNN also reported that a chain of explosions was heard in the outskirts of Kiev around 2 a.m. local time (9 a.m. Korean time).

The exact cause of the explosion is unknown.
