(Beijing = Yonhap News) Paralympic Joint Investigation Foundation = The Korean delegation who participated in the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics will enter the opening ceremony for the 35th time.
The Korean delegation will be the 35th out of 46 teams to enter the Beijing Paralympic Games opening ceremony held at the National Stadium (National Stadium) in Beijing, China on the 4th at 9:00 pm (Korean time). The order of entry was determined according to the stroke order of Simplified Chinese characters.
A total of 41 people including 18 players (13 hockey and 5 curling) will participate in the opening ceremony.
The rider will be Baek Hye-jin, the lead of the mixed wheelchair curling team ‘Confession of Jang Yoon-jung’ (Rolling Stone, Uijeongbu).
The Korean delegation will send a total of 82 athletes, including 32 athletes and 50 officials, to all six Paralympic sports.
In Korea, KBS broadcasts the opening ceremony live. The broadcast will be delayed from 11:10 pm on SBS and 1 am on the 5th.
Initially, the Beijing Paralympic Games was expected to have 1,500 athletes from 50 countries, but 46 countries participated as Russia and Belarus were expelled from the Games.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) refused to participate in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the 3rd and Belarus.
The IPC announced a day ago that it would allow the Russian and Belarusian teams to compete as neutral players, but as the opposition from other countries grew, the IPC held an executive committee meeting on the 3rd and denied the participation.
Belgium is the first team to enter the opening ceremony.
Host country China comes in 46th, the last. Italy, host country of the 2026 Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, will appear for the 45th time.
