The President of the Transition, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, was at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport this Friday, April 14, 2023 where he received the mortal remains of Mrs. Hadja Djénè Condé, born Kaba, the former First Lady of the Republic from Guinea.

The Head of State went to Conakry airport not only to pay a vibrant tribute to the illustrious deceased, but also to provide moral support to the bereaved family.

This emotional funeral ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Dr. Bernard Goumou, the Ministers Secretary General and Director of Cabinet of the Presidency, respectively Colonel Amara Camara and Djiba Diakité. We also noted the presence of members of the CNRD, those of the Government, the Chief of Staff General of the Armed Forces, General Sadiba Koulibaly, the High Commander of the Gendarmerie, General Balla Samoura, the parents, the three children and the former collaborators of the deceased, as well as moral and religious authorities.

It was around 5 p.m. that the plane carrying the mortal remains of the former First Lady landed at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport. In an atmosphere of sadness, the funeral procession stopped at the official box where the Head of State bowed before the body of Mrs. Hadja Djénè Condé, née Kaba.

Thus, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya and the Government stand alongside the family of the former First Lady to pay her all the honors due to her rank, to magnify the heritage she leaves to Guinea in terms of promoting women, girls and early childhood development. It is also and above all, to salute the immense hope that it has aroused among the people of Guinea in the enhancement of living together, solidarity and national harmony.

The President of the Transition, Head of State, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya – as he already does for all the former First Ladies of the Republic -, has personally taken charge since September 5, 2021, of the hospitalization costs of Madame Hadja Djéné Condé, born Kaba until her regrettable death in Paris. As a result, the Head of State would like the people of Guinea to keep her image of a Great Lady who has devoted her entire life to the well-being of her neighbour, the Guinean populations without exception.

On this occasion, Colonel Mamadi Kaba, older brother of the deceased, expressed the family’s gratitude to the Head of State: “Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya took care of my sister before the events of September 5 and he continued until his death. It is God who will reward him”.

The Secretary General for Religious Affairs, Elhadj Karamo Diawara, especially welcomed the mobilization around the late First Lady: “Today, I appeal to all Guineans for calm and restraint. We must forgive ourselves today because of the mortal remains of the former first lady, a very wise and very religious sister”.

The Prime Minister, Dr. Bernard Goumou, especially reassured that all arrangements will be made by the Government for a worthy burial of the deceased: “I would like to express my emotion at the arrival of the mortal remains of the former First Lady of the Republic of Guinea. This First Lady is characterized by incredible humility. The CNRD and the Government will make every effort under the instructions of the Head of State to pay a deserved tribute to this high personality”.

It should be noted that the lifting of the body will take place this Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Sino-Guinean hospital from 9 a.m., followed by a symposium at Ahmed Sékou Touré airport in Conakry, before the departure of the mortal remains for Kankan , her hometown, where she will be buried on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
