Governor Martín Llaryora began this Thursday the opening of ordinary sessions in the Legislature of Córdoba, in the middle of a day marked at the local level by the protest of teachers grouped in UEPC following a salary claim and at the national level by the treatment of the ” omnibus law” in Congress.

At the beginning of his speech, Llaryora assured: “I am going to leave everything to live up to these times and the needs of my people, knowing that we are in one of the greatest crises in the history of Argentina.”

Llaryora: The crisis is getting worse

“The crisis is getting worse and worsening every day. It takes all provinces and families. The outlook is worse. Inflation has a full impact on regional economies,” he lamented.

The governor highlighted the first decisions made at the beginning of his administration and assured that they allowed the crisis not to have a major impact on the province.

The vice governor and natural head of the parliamentary body, Myriam Prunotto, called the legislators to meet on Thursday, February 1 at mid-morning to enable the parliamentary year, which takes place in the Legislative Palace.

Llaryora, from the space We Make United for Córdoba (HUxC) led by his predecessor Juan Schiaretti, was elected on June 25 of last year and will be his first speech before the Legislative Assembly.

From 1999 to 2023, for 24 years, the governorships alternated between José Manuel de la Sota (deceased) and Schiaretti, with three terms of office each.

Although he invited him personally, former governor Juan Schiaretti thanked him, but he will not attend the special session. His wife, national senator Alejandra Vigo, will be there. In front of the stage of the Legislature there will be 18 “empty” places: they are those reserved for the national deputies for Córdoba, who at that time, it is estimated, will be dedicated to dealing in particular with the articles of the omnibus law.

For this Thursday, Llaryora is scheduled to enter around 10:30, and to address the Unicameral around 11. When he took office, on December 10, Llaryora’s first speech before the Córdoba parliamentarians was 45 minutes.

UEPC protest on the outskirts

Outside the facility there was a protest by the Union of Educators of Córdoba over salary demands. It is the only union that has not yet agreed on a raise with the Executive.
