10. The Bays of Kotor

Between land and sea, welcome to the mouths of Kotor! The mountain seems to drop steeply into the water, it is indeed a fjord. The mouths of Kotor contain several small medieval cities influenced by Venetian architecture: Herceg Novi, Perast, Risan and of course the old town of Kotor, these small towns by the water are very pleasant to discover. Perched 260 meters above sea level, the Saint-Jean fortress offers an incredible panorama over the entire bay. This will require climbing hundreds of steps. A piece of advice, in summer, prefer the end of the day, the temperatures can be very high during this period, and of course, the ramparts are not sheltered from the sun!

Kotor is nicknamed the city of cats, so be sure to visit the Cat Museum! And if you walk around the old town (or Stari Grad, in the local language), you will come across many of these little felines! Perhaps they will lead you to other points to visit. Indeed, in Kotor, it is unthinkable to walk around without seeing the magnificent churches, and in particular the Church of Saint Nicholas and the Church of Saint Luke. Located opposite each other, the first is Serbian Orthodox while the second is both Catholic and Orthodox.
