ON-Lower Austria pays tribute to the emergency services who died at the time

Vienna/St. Pölten (OTS) – This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of the poaching drama in Annaberg, where three police officers and a paramedic were shot in cold blood as part of a police operation against an unscrupulous poacher.

Werner Herbert and the chairwoman of the AUF-Lower Austria, Irene Eisenhut, took part. In addition, the AUF-Lower Austria organized a motorcycle rally to the memorial, in which around 180 people, mostly police officers from Vienna and Lower Austria, but also members of the murdered emergency services, took part and also took part in the memorial event.

In their speeches, Christoph Luisser and Werner Herbert were shocked by the events in these dramatic hours of operation and also by the cold-bloodedness of the perpetrator, who murdered his victims from ambush – and without giving them a chance to defend themselves.

Werner Herbert, himself a police officer in Vienna, also highlighted the special nature of the police service, including the dangers that often cannot be calculated in advance, and thanked the police officers for their willingness to put themselves in danger, often putting their health and their lives in the process to risk in order to provide the population with a comprehensive and professional service.

Irene Eisenhut, who was on duty during these dramatic hours and experienced the events at the time first hand, briefly described the police operation that night and was also deeply moved by the brutal murder of her colleagues and the paramedic.

The memorial event was concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony and subsequent commemoration of the dead at the memorial memorial.
