In the spring, Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) announced the creation of 100 additional positions by the end of this year in view of the shortage of statutory health insurance physicians. In the summer, this goal was confirmed by turquoise-green. The implementation of the project has now been postponed to the first quarter of 2024, the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) announced. The award will take place from January through a tender process. The goal is to fill a relevant majority of these positions by the end of March.
