10,000 layoffs planned at Amazon

This week, 10,000 people will lose their jobs — in Amazon devices (Alexa et al: Kindle could be involved), as well as retail and human resources. In fact, the analysis of trends for this end of the year would indicate that consumers will go more through physical stores than through the Internet for their Christmas purchases.

At the same time, the firm indicates that its forecast results for the fourth quarter show sales of $137.4 billion, up from $125.6 billion last year. Profits also doubled to $14.3 billion from $7.2 billion in the same period of 2021.

The New York Times specifies that this situation shows a radical reversal in trends: during the Covid period, hundreds of thousands of people were recruited to respond to online requests.
