Ben Stokes ‘deadly’ batting performance in county cricket after becoming captain of the London ∙ England Test cricket team. In the match against Worcestershire, Stokes needed just 64 balls to complete a century for Durham. Stokes hit 34 runs, including five sixes and a four, in each over.

Durham declared their innings at 580–6 with Stokes batting superior. Despite being out for 161 off 88 balls, Stokes had already set a world record in county cricket. In the innings, Stokes hit 17 sixes. He holds the record for most sixes in an innings at the County Cricket Championship. Stokes reached the crease in the 3rd over of the innings and smashed it from the start.

Stokes scored 34 and completed his century in the 117th over off 18-year-old Josh Baker. Stokes’ scoring in that over was 6,6,6,6,6,4.

Stokes was appointed captain of the England Test team last month following the resignation of Joe Root. Stokes will lead England for the first time in a series against New Zealand in June.
