A 17-year-old has confessed to killing two homeless people in Vienna this summer. The boy came to a police station on Monday afternoon and turned himself in in the presence of a lawyer, police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger confirmed a report in the “Kronen Zeitung” on Tuesday. A 56-year-old and a 55-year-old were killed in the knife attacks on sleeping homeless people. A 51-year-old woman survived another attack with injuries.
According to the daily newspaper’s report, the teenager came to the police station accompanied by a lawyer. There he made a confession and spoke of voices that had ordered him to kill. The alleged murder weapon has now also been recovered, it was said. Apparently the pressure to search may have become too great.
There were three brutal attacks on homeless people in Vienna this summer. On July 12, a man was found stabbed to death on a park bench at Handelskai in Vienna-Brigittenau. In Vienna-Leopoldstadt, a woman was seriously injured by stabs and cuts more than a week later. The last case occurred on the night of August 9th in Vienna-Josefstadt. A man died from his injuries after a knife attack. The investigators wanted to announce further details at a press conference at 11 a.m. at the Federal Criminal Police Office.
