19 companies involved in production in our country were given a special rate for the consumption of Jirama’s electricity. This includes large industrial companies dealing with textile production, cement production, according to the report of the Council of Ministers, on Wednesday. Among those mentioned are the companies involved in iron processing and the production and processing of chemicals. It should be noted that the new rates in “optima business” for the industrial company categories came into effect on August 3, 2022.
Now, it is 100% applied. The increase is still around 40% for the 19 major strategic industrial companies mentioned above. These measures have been taken to support these companies, because they play an important role in the development of the Malagasy economy. This provision will last for 12 months and will apply from this April but will not apply to previous expenses.
