2-Year-Old Child Killed in Frankfort Home as Police and Task Force Investigate Domestic Homicide
A tragic domestic-related homicide investigation is underway in suburban Chicago after a two-year-old boy was found dead inside a residence in Frankfort, Illinois. According to the Frankfort Police Department, officers responding to a home in the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court discovered the toddler unresponsive on Tuesday afternoon, setting off an urgent emergency response and a joint multi-agency probe.
Emergency Response on Brook Stone Court
The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Frankfort police officers rushed to the home on Brook Stone Court following an emergency call. Inside the residence, responding personnel found the young boy unresponsive and immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an effort to save his life.
Emergency medical services transported the child from the scene to Silver Cross Hospital in neighboring New Lenox. Despite the life-saving efforts of medical staff, the toddler was pronounced dead at 4:48 p.m. on Tuesday, according to information released by the Will County coroner’s office.
Autopsy Findings and Ongoing Multi-Agency Investigation
A Wednesday autopsy confirmed that the young boy died as the result of an apparent homicide. While officials have withheld the child’s name and the exact medical cause of death pending further investigation, the case has mobilized regional law enforcement resources.
The Frankfort Police Department is leading the inquiry alongside the Will Grundy Major Crimes Task Force.
Mother Found at the Scene With Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
The child’s mother was also inside the home when officers arrived. Police stated that she was attempting self-harm at the time of discovery.
First responders intervened and transported her to a hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that she sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators have not yet released details regarding potential criminal charges as the joint task force continues its examination of the domestic-related incident.
