At least 20 houses were affected by the fire that occurred on Wednesday night in Cerro Cordillera de Valparaíso, which left no fatalities, while the Investigative Police (PDI) is investigating whether a flare was the cause of the emergency.

“The evaluation and the details are in development, but I can tell you something: I was talking with the mayor of Valparaíso, Jorge Sharp, both last night and today in the morning, and with the delegate Sofía González, and we know that they are going to There will be less than 40 houses (those burned),” said President Gabriel Boric in La Moneda.

“So far there are 20 confirmed affected houses. There are no injuries or deaths,” said the President.

“What I want to communicate to the country is that at this moment we are working with all the speed required and that the Government is with all the resources and energy concentrated on the task of supporting everyone who needs it,” said Boric.

He stressed, along these lines, that “today all the FIBE files (Basic Emergency File) will be completed,” and guaranteed that “early aid will immediately reach the affected people.”

In addition, Boric lamented the death of two minors, aged 12 and 16, in a fire that affected a house located on José Tomás Ramos Street, near Plan de Valparaíso; tragedy that occurred in parallel to the Cerro Cordillera emergency.

So far, the number of affected people reported by the Buenos Aires municipality amounts to 16 family groups, with 61 people affected, including 11 older adults and 20 minors.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sharp revealed that “the municipality of Valparaíso was with its teams deployed from the beginning of the emergency on Cordillera Hill, the municipal command post was quickly installed in the Guillermo Bravo auditorium, which also according to our emergency plan and evacuation is the arrival point for the residents of that sector of Valparaíso.”
