Season calendar 2022/2023

KHL regular season 2022/2023 starts September 1, 2022 in Moscow at the CSKA Arena with a match between the current holder of the Gagarin Cup TsSCA and last season finalist Magnitogorsk Metallurgist.

The next game day, they will play their first home matches of the season Avtomobilist, Traktor, Kunlun Red Star, Spartak and JSC “Sochi”. On the first weekend of the new season, fans are waiting for bright matches – September 3 in Moscow “Dynamo” will accept Ak Barswhich this summer was strengthened by the ex-players of the blue and white Vadim Shipachev, Stanislav Galiev and Vyacheslav Voinovand became the new coach of Kazan Oleg Znarok, who won two Gagarin Cups with Dynamo. On the same day in St. Petersburg SKA will accept “Salavat Yulaev”and on Sunday 4 September “Tractor” fight with “Locomotive”.

The regular season will last until February 26, 2023 and will include 164 game days and 748 matches, and each club will hold record for the first part of the KHL championship 68 matches.

The structure of the formation of matches for each of the teams:

42 matches each against each (21 at home, 21 away);

20 matches with each team in their conference (10 at home, 10 away);

6 matches as part of the draw to improve the principal matches (3 at home, 3 away).

In the regular season, there will be only one pause for the matches of the national team – from 12 to 18 December 2022, which will be preceded by Week of Hockey Stars 2022 in Chelyabinsk on December 10 and 11. All this has reduced the average number of matches per day to 4.51 games.

The number of days without matches is also minimal – only two days on February 6 and 8, which is due to the simultaneous long loading of arenas at several clubs and the logistical features of the movement of teams during that period. The most busy arenas with other events during the regular season fell on the Moscow region (Dynamo, Spartak and CSKA), St. Petersburg and Omsk. Loading per day is from 44 to 97 days for a specific sports facility.

In the calendar of the 2022/2023 season, the maximum uniformity of the distribution of matches by months has been achieved:
