The final list of candidates has been prepared after the deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections has expired. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul informed that 194 candidates are contesting in 20 constituencies of the state. The deadline for withdrawing candidature was till 3 pm on Monday. 10 candidates have withdrawn their papers in the entire state.
Kottayam constituency has the highest number of candidates (14). Alathur has the least number of candidates (5). Kozhikode has 13 candidates, Kollam and Kannur have 12 candidates each. Out of 194 candidates in the entire state, 25 are women. Males 169. Vadakara constituency has the highest number of female candidates with 4 candidates.
Candidates withdrew their papers in Thiruvananthapuram, Mavelikara, Idukki, Chalakudy, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad and Vadakara. After the final list of candidates was ready, the Election Commission started allotting symbols to the candidates.
