PAIR Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin led Indonesia to win over India with a score of 3-1 in the Group C match of the 2024 Thomas Cup badminton championship.
Leo/Daniel beat Dhruv Kapila/Sai Pratheek in two straight games with a score of 22-20, 21-11 at the Hi-Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, Chengdu, Wednesday (1/5).
Leo said the match in the first game was tight. Luckily, he admitted that he was not carried away by his opponent’s style of play.
For the next match, he stated that he was ready to compete if he was selected in the next round of the 2024 Thomas Cup.
“We are always ready to give our best for Indonesia whenever we are trusted to be deployed,” said Leo.
“Our two matches in the Thomas Cup were quite good but we will not be satisfied,” he added.
Meanwhile, Daniel mentioned that the enemy was quite troublesome for them. Although, Dhruv Kapila/Sai Pratheek are a new pair.
“This impromptu Indian pair is good at serving and returning serve. At the end of the first game we tried to be more focused and anticipate their strengths. In the second game we were more comfortable controlling the game,” said Daniel. (Z-6)
