The Michelin Guide announced its 2026 Texas restaurant selections on Thursday, expanding the state’s culinary footprint with three new Michelin stars, including a landmark promotion for a Fort Worth barbecue joint known for hours-long customer queues. Goldee’s Bar-B-Q earned its first Michelin star, shifting from its previous status as a recommended eatery.
How Goldee’s Bar-B-Q Secured Its First Star
Located at 4645 Dick Price Road in Fort Worth, Goldee’s has built a massive following for its smoked meats. Michelin inspectors specifically praised the restaurant’s brisket for its tenderness and rich flavor profile. Beyond the beef, the inspection team highlighted the turkey, jalapeño-cheddar sausage, potato salad, brisket-studded beans, and banana pudding. The intense popularity of the establishment routinely forces patrons to wait hours in line to secure a tray of its acclaimed food.
The promotion of Goldee’s brings the total number of Michelin-starred establishments in Texas to 19. Alongside the Fort Worth smokehouse, Austin’s plant-based restaurant Fabrik and Japanese dining concept Kappo Kappo also earned Michelin stars in the 2026 selection.
Expansion of Stars, Bib Gourmands, and Recommendations Across North Texas
The 2026 Texas guide encompasses 149 restaurants representing 30 distinct types of cuisine. In Dallas, existing starred destinations Mamani and Tatsu Dallas successfully retained their Michelin-star designations. Meanwhile, Resident Taqueria at 9661 Audelia Road in Dallas captured a Bib Gourmand distinction, which honors establishments offering high-quality food at a good value. Resident Taqueria stood as the sole North Texas recipient among the six new Bib Gourmand additions statewide.
Several Dallas institutions maintained their existing Bib Gourmand status, including Cattleack Barbeque, Gemma, Một Hai Ba, Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen, and Nonna. Michelin’s anonymous inspectors also broadened the recommended list across the region.

New Recommended Eateries Join the 2026 Guide
North Texas added several new names to Michelin’s recommended roster, which honors high-quality food regardless of whether a venue holds a star or Bib Gourmand. In Dallas, newly recognized spots include Fond at 1601 Elm St., MĀBO at 6109 Berkshire Lane, Olōyō at 4422 Gaston Ave., and Resident Taqueria. Plano also claimed a new recommended spot with Jashan at 7401 Lone Star Drive.
Several established local favorites maintained their spots on the recommended list for 2026. Fort Worth’s Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez and Panther City BBQ joined Goldee’s, while Arlington’s Smoke’N Ash BBQ at 5904 S. Cooper St. and McKinney’s Harvest at the Masonic at 215 N. Kentucky St. retained their positions.
A broad array of Dallas dining spots also retained their recommended status for 2026, including Barsotti’s, Crown Block, El Carlos Elegante, Fearing’s, Knox Bistro, Lucia, Mercat Bistro, Mister Charles, Monarch, Quarter Acre, Sachet, Stillwell’s, Stock & Barrel, Sushi Kozy, Tei-An, and Written By The Seasons.
The Evolving Culinary Landscape Under Michelin’s Lens
Across the entire state, the 2026 selection accounts for 19 starred restaurants, 54 Bib Gourmand locations, and 76 recommended eateries. Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, noted that anonymous inspectors have watched culinary talent across Texas flourish and push boundaries over the past three years since the guide launched in 2024.
The 2026 rollout also introduced a new initiative titled “Mindful Voices,” designed to shine a light on hospitality professionals who are altering how restaurants, hotels, and wineries operate.
