24 billion euros in annual turnover, Become self-entrepreneur

Yves Vilagines

The number of autoentrepreneurs continues to increase, as does the average turnover. But the differences are always very large depending on the activity. Couriers are those who earn the least, as revealed by the latest study by the national Urssaf fund.

Who are the autoentrepreneurs (AE) who earn the best living? Every six months the national fund of Urssaf draws up a complete report of the economic activity of the AE, now called microentrepreneurs. And the results may surprise.

First observation, the number of autoentrepreneurs continues to grow. They are in total 2.5 million at the end of June 2022 registered with Urssaf. It’s a record ! On the whole, a little more than half declare turnover. They were exactly 1.3 million in the second quarter of 2022. How many? exactly 6.389 billion euros!

Less than an average monthly minimum wage

The turnover of all AEs over one year, from July 2021 to June 2022, even reached the record of 24 billion euros. On average, in the second quarter of 2022, the turnover of a auto entrepreneur is 4,907 euros, i.e. less than the monthly minimum wage – as a reminder
a gross minimum wage
is equal to 1,709.28 euros.

Turnover varies greatly depending on the sector. Postal and courier activities are the least profitable: 1,282 euros on average in the second quarter of 2022. Personal services are also below the average: 3,271 euros for hairdressing and body care, 3,327 euros for activities sports.

The most profitable activities are the intellectual professions: financial and insurance activities generate a quarterly average of 9,029 euros; real estate activities, 8,615 euros.
