Don’t ignore any physical signs! A 28-year-old British woman went to see a doctor for symptoms of fatigue and thirst. Unexpectedly, she developed diabetes and severe complications. She also fell into a coma for more than a year. Fortunately, after more than a year of treatment, she recovered. Finally returned to a healthy life.

According to the “Liverpool Echo” report, Sarah Mather, a 28-year-old woman from Widnes, is deaf-mute and autistic, and is also a sign language performer. She used to go to the doctor because she felt tired and thirsty, and in 2010, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
During the diagnosis, Sarah experienced a chest infection and was treated with steroids for asthma. The next day, she fell into a coma due to severe diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Doctors emphasized that this is a serious complication of diabetes and may be extremely life-threatening. Sarah admitted that it took about 12 to 18 months to fully wake up from the coma, which was not an easy process.

Sarah pointed out that she had been using a glucose monitor, but she did not realize that she had sustained low blood pressure at night, nor did she realize that her condition was quite serious. She said bluntly, “It was really scary not to wake up.” She admitted that thanks to the insulin system, she could resume her normal life.
Sarah also encouraged other patients through her story, calling herself a sign language performer. Although her hearing loss makes it difficult to hear the lyrics clearly, she can still feel the music, which is something she has always loved. Finally, I also encourage others, “You will go through good and bad days, but never give up on your dreams. It may take a little extra planning, but you can still take good care of yourself and be kind to yourself.”
