Rumors released last Wednesday (2) pointed to the possibility of Apple announcing 2nd generation AirTags trackers next yearbut new information suggests that the launch may only happen in 2025. According to speculations, the 2nd generation AirTag will have Full integration with the Vision Pro Mixed Reality (RM) headsetdevice announced by the Cupertino giant during WWDC 2023. 2nd generation Apple AirTags could integrate with Vision Pro and go into production in 2024
Apple seems to be preparing to launch a second generation of AirTags, its tracking devices that have already caused controversy in cases of persecution, although their purpose is to help find lost objects. The information was revealed this Wednesday (02) by the famous leaker Ming-Chi Kuo.
According to the informant, the new generation of AirTags will begin to be mass-produced in the last quarter of 2024. The trackers should receive improvements that will allow them to expand their usability. One possibility mentioned is the integration of accessories with a new spatial computing ecosystem — referring to the Apple Vision Pro.
The 1st generation AirTags, released in 2021, have Apple’s U1 chip, which enables its precise location feature and shows the virtually exact distance to a compatible iPhone model. It is possible that the next line of trackers will be updated with the U2, an alleged ultra-wideband chip that should be presented alongside the iPhone 15.
With a new chip, the trackers’ capabilities could go far beyond simply finding lost objects, especially given the high expectations for Apple’s first mixed reality headset, but leakers still don’t have much information about the capabilities of the next generation AirTag. .
