2nd league: Amstetten saves championship lead

Another point behind, Vienna is in third place after beating Kapfenberg 1-0 at home. FC Dornbirn beat the Young Violets 3-1 and clinched their fourth win in a row.

In St. Pölten, the hosts took an early lead with a penalty from Julian Keiblinger (9′), Sebastian Leimhofer equalized (31′). After the second Keiblinger goal (63rd), the SKN already looked like the winner, but Amstetten struck twice in the finish. First, Stefan Urlaub made it 2-2, then an own goal by Yannick Scheidegger (91st) sealed the guests’ success.

Horn shoots himself out of crisis

Shortly before, Horner had triumphed again after two defeats, although the Waldviertel had not been harmonious in the past few weeks despite the best position. According to the club, coach Rolf Landerl asked for the contract to be terminated, which was mutually agreed. Internal dispute is said to have preceded the whole thing.

In Steyr, amateur coach Philipp Riederer was on the sidelines on an interim basis. He saw a perfect start: Patrik Mijic (16th) scored deep in the Steyr half of the game after winning the ball. The optical field superiority of the guests should not be reflected in the score – on the contrary. After a push from Tolga Günes, Gerhard Dombaxi got the ball and scored his fourth goal of the season (29th).

Double pack by Pronitchew

At the end of the first half of the game, Steyr still had good scenes in front of the Horner goal and also set the first accents after the break. But the guests knew how to counter. Niklas Hoffmann headed the crossbar after a free kick (71′) before substitute Maximilian Pronitschew had plenty of space in the penalty area and was successful (78′).

The German-Russian also made the preliminary decision (85th) against a forward eleven that had moved up a long way. Steyr’s David Bumberger pulled the emergency brake against Pronichew after his mistake in the penalty area and was sent off, but Burak Yilmaz missed the penalty point (91′).

Own goal brings Vienna home win

In Vienna-Döbling Kapfenberg provided the Vienna with great resistance. After half an hour, the bottom team even had a great chance of taking the lead: a header from Christoph Pichorner from a corner hit the crossbar. The Viennese also had a hard time afterwards. After a goalless draw at the break, KSV weakened themselves.

Antonio Sokcevic, who had already been warned, received a yellow card after a foul (51′). Vienna tried to break through the tightening defense, but Deni Alar and Co. were unsuccessful. For a long time it looked as if the Kapfenberg could take the draw with them. In the final minute of regular time, however, Pichorner deflected a cross from the right into his own goal (90′). The “hawks” were left empty-handed again.

Safe Dornbirn success

Dornbirn started confidently with a triple of victories behind them, Sebastian Santin (20th) made it 1-0. The young Austrians were only partially unsettled. Ibrahima Drame missed the equalizer after half an hour, Dornbirn’s goalkeeper Justin Ospelt had to intervene several times. Nothing changed in the game even after the change of sides.

Drame shot too centrally at Ospelt before the Senegalese had to leave the field. Already warned, the offensive man held back a Dornbirner and saw yellow-red (57th). That was it for the Young Violets. Renan first found Elvin Ibrisimovic (66′) before Santin (69′) scored to make it 3-0 against a disintegrating purple back line. Leonardo Ivkic (77th) only made cosmetic results.
