3 injured in Austria: avalanche pulls ten skiers away | Regional

Lech – In an avalanche accident in Austria near Lech, ten skiers were swept away by an avalanche and three of them were injured.

Two of the winter athletes suffered serious injuries, said the Vorarlberg State Police Headquarters on Sunday evening. The group of ten was therefore traveling towards the Juppenspitze with a 33-year-old ski guide. Suddenly, a slab avalanche broke loose, taking ten of the skiers with it.

Three of the athletes were able to get out of the avalanche themselves, the others were not buried because of the small amount of snow – some also wore special backpacks with avalanche airbags.

At Christmas there was an avalanche very close to the Arlberg – four people were injured.
